Psychics are people who are able to sense the energy of people, places, and objects. The term includes those who are able to practice psychometry, the reading of objects, and Biointroscopy, the reading of places. There are others who display innate abilities like ESP [mind reading] or telekinesis [the ability to move objects with the mind]. Clairvoyants can see future or past events. Sometimes they can perceive events as they happen at a distance.

Psychic abilities differ from that of a medium. Mediums communicate with those who have died or  "crossed over." They also report communicating with higher and more evolved spirits. Some mediums are said to be able to see, sense, or hear the voices of those who are departed, while others are mental mediums, who claim the spirit enters their bodies and speaks while they, the medium is in a trance. Still others must use objects like a crystal ball to communicate. These mediums are known as physical mediums

Not all psychics are mediums and vice versa; however many are both. There are some very well-known cases and people who fit into these categories such as psychic Gerald Croiset or medium James Van Prague.
